Overview
EAS’s unique methodology has been scientifically developed and proven in the turf management domain and is centered on intensive soil sampling whereby a GPS map is firstly generated, from this a virtual grid is imposed on the fields, each grid point forms the point at which samples are collected (not less than 6 per field) but in the event of smaller areas down to 300 m/sq single sample are collected. The samples are analysed at an accredited laboratory for Acidity (pH), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Phosphate (P), Sodium (Na) and Potassium (K). The information is then processed into a map format that is easier to read and understand. Based on these maps an agronomical recommendation is made with regard to the exact fertilizer blend and quantity required. The primary objectives are to establish a measurable way to ensure optimal plant growth while limiting input cost on fertilizers and minimizing the environmental impact. EAS is also in a position to supply and apply the necessary fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides thereby ensuring that lawns are maintained in optimal condition. EAS purchases fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides in bulk volumes and is therefore able to pass on the benefit of preferential pricing to our customers.
EAS track record
EAS supplies advisory services to the largest landscaping and turf management companies as well as the premier golf courses and the largest producers of instant lawn in South Africa and is currently assisting many private and public schools to improve and maintain their lawns and sport fields.
EAS services
Soil sampling
Will be conducted using GPS (Global Positioning System) derived maps and virtual grid points, the advantage in this approach is that we will be able to measure the soil fertility at the same location at future points in time and will therefore be able to monitor and track the nutrient status on selected areas over time. Samples will be processed at an accredited laboratory.
The resulting data will then be captured in our GIS (Geographic Information System) and interpolated to produce the maps required and from which we base our recommendations. These maps will also form part of the database that EAS will compile and maintain for you, and again these can be used as comparisons at any future point in time.
Analysis and recommendation
In map format for the areas large enough the following will be analysed:
- Acidity/alkalinity (pH)
- Phosphates (P)
- Calcium (C)
- Potassium (K)
- Magnesium (Mg)
- Sodium (Na)
- Sand / silt / clay content (if required)
- The relationships of Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium and Sodium to each other will be analysed to establish the balance of plant nutrients.

Notes:
-
All maps are within 5m accurate due to GPS (Global Positioning System) mapping.
-
Dark Green represents the ideal or norm for a particular value.
-
Top of the map represents North.
-
Mapped areas are represented as Hectares (Ha). 1 Ha. = 10 000 square meters.
-
Input product weights are represented in Tons (T) 1 T = 1000 kilograms.
-
Each field is individually identified with a unique name.
-
In most cases at least 6 samples are required per Ha. so as to ensure representation of actual status of the soil.
-
Samples are collected within the root zone.
Fertiliser supply
EAS purchases large volumes of fertiliser directly from the manufacturers and can therefore pass on the benefit of low prices to our customers, listed below are the range of more commonly used fertilisers although special blends can be made up to address nutrient requirements.
- EASiBOOST – EAS own developed balanced water soluble fertiliser - 17:4:16(32)
- MAP(33) – to address Phosphate deficiencies
Super Phosphate – to address phosphate deficiencies – longer working
- LAN(28) – primarily a Nitrogen growth booster
- 10:1:5(33) Turbograss – specially developed granular long working fertiliser for turf lawns
- 1:1:1 for newly established lawn areas.
Fertiliser application
EAS is able to apply fertilisers at competitive rates to those customers who require it either in granular form, liquid or water soluble form using our own mechanised and manual equipment.
Herbicide & Pesticides application
EAS is able to apply herbicide and pesticides at competitive rates to those customers who require it using our own mechanised and manual equipment listed below are some of the more commonly used products.
Herbicide |
Pesticide |
| Turfweeder to control broadleaf weeds (Selective) |
Sipermethrin for termites, ants, army worm etc. |
| Gramoxone to control grasses and weeds on paved and tarred areas. (Non - Selective) |

Implementation
EAS will commence work within 14 working days of receiving an official order from you. The final deliverables will be defined in terms of an SLA (Service Level Agreement) agreed upon by both parties.
Once corrective actions are completed EAS will implement a maintenance program that ensures that soil nutrient levels are kept at optimal levels.
Herbicide and pesticide application as required to keep lawns in optimal condition.
